A Call to Save It!

The latest “State of Nature Report” paints a grim picture of the biodiversity crisis facing Northern Ireland, with 12% of species threatened with extinction.

This dire situation demands urgent action, especially in areas like the Lagan Valley Regional Park (LVRP), where we have a precious opportunity to foster harmony between people and nature.

The LVRP holds immense potential as a sanctuary for wildlife and a haven for people seeking solace in nature. However, this potential is under threat from rampant development and habitat destruction. Acres of vital habitats and key wildlife areas are at risk of being paved over, jeopardizing the delicate balance of ecosystems and endangering countless species.

The stats are appalling.

The site in Quarterlands Road case, untouched by plows for 30 years, teems with life. Its flourishing ecosystem supports a myriad of insects and provides essential sanctuary and sustenance for diverse wildlife. Preserving these fragments of nature is paramount to reversing the alarming decline in biodiversity.

We cannot stand idly by as our natural heritage is eroded. It’s time to rally together to save the LVRP and turn the tide on these grim statistics. Join us in advocating for the preservation of this invaluable ecosystem and in championing a future where people and nature thrive together. Together, we can make a difference and ensure a brighter, greener future for generations to come. #SaveLVRP #StateOfNature
