A Holiday Village in Drumbeg? Public Meeting – Please Come Along

A proposal has been brought forward for a Holiday Park and associated works on land at Ballyskeagh Road, Drumbeg, opposite Bob Stewart’s Pub, within the Lagan Valley Regional Park AONB.

The Proposal of Application Notice, LA05/2026/0608/PAN, was ‘determined’ on 28 September. This does not mean that planning permission has been granted for the Holiday Park. The developers are now holding a public consultation before a full planning application is submitted.

For anyone who cares about the future of the Lagan Valley Regional Park, we believe this is an important meeting to attend.

Why are we concerned?

This is countryside within the Regional Park, on land that is not zoned for development, at a time when this part of the Lagan Valley is already experiencing increasing development pressure.

There are important questions about the scale and nature of what is proposed, traffic on local roads, flooding and local watercourses, sewage and wastewater capacity, wildlife, habitats, trees and hedgerows, lighting and the night-time environment.

We also need to look at the bigger picture. How will the area’s infrastructure and ecology cope with the cumulative pressure from the pub extension, boutique hotel, restaurant and spa, this proposed Holiday Park and the proposed Quarterlands Road housing development?

One development does not exist in isolation from the next.

Please come and ask questions

You don’t need to be a planning expert. If you live here, walk here, cycle here, enjoy the Regional Park, value its wildlife and countryside, or simply care about what happens to this part of the Lagan Valley, please come along.
