Quarterlands Planning Application Deferred Without Explanation
We’ve received confirmation that planning application LA05/2022/0033/F — the Quarterlands development proposal — has been removed from the agenda for the upcoming Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council Planning Committee meeting on 4th August 2025.
This development has caused understandable concern. Members of our community had made preparations to attend the meeting and several had committed to speaking on behalf of the Quarterlands Group. We are incredibly grateful to all those who continue to stand with us.
In response, we have written to both the Council and the planning department to seek urgent clarification. We have asked:
- Why the application has been removed from the agenda
- Who made this decision, and on what grounds
- What the current status of the application is
- That we be fully informed of all future developments
The Quarterlands Group is calling for transparency and timely communication. Our community deserves to know what is happening with a proposal that could permanently alter the landscape, biodiversity, and infrastructure of the Lagan Valley Regional Park.
We will publish any response we receive and keep all supporters informed of next steps. For now, please know that your support — from attending meetings to signing petitions and spreading awareness — continues to be vital.
