Defending Our Haven:

INTRODUCTION

Welcome to our Q5 comprehensive objection document, written in answer to the hundreds of pages submitted by the developer in November and December 2023 a vital stand against proposed housing development (LA05/2022/0033/F) within the Lagan Valley Regional Park (LVRP), an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Our objections are a call to protect this cherished space, its infrastructure, and the well-being of its residents.

  1. Planning Policy Objection:
The proposed development contradicts the newly adopted Local Development Plan 2032 (LDP 2032), undermining our community’s vision for a sustainable and green future.
  2. Environmental Impact Objection:
Inadequate assessment, destruction of a 165-year-old hawthorn hedgerow, and flawed ecology assessments threaten our biodiversity, neglecting the importance of preserving habitats.
  3. Infrastructure Objection:
Current inadequacies in infrastructure, from sewerage to traffic management, raise serious concerns about potential flooding, pollution risks, and lack of disability access planning.
  4. Design, Siting, and Layout Objection:
Architectural clashes, safety concerns, and impacts on residents’ amenities violate the essence of a harmonious living environment. Our objections are grounded in legal frameworks protecting the area’s future.

This summary provides a glimpse into our objections. We call on stakeholders, residents, and decision-makers to reflect on the far-reaching implications of this development, safeguarding the LVRP’s integrity and the quality of life for generations to come. 🌿💙 #ProtectLVRP #CommunityVoices #SustainableFuture
