Planners seem unable to face the fact that all water, dirty or clean, connected with the proposed development site is located in the Lagan river valley and can therefore end up in the river and the lough. The topographical maps below prove we are in the river valley and not ‘too far from the lough’. Ignoring the interconnectedness is insane. Telling us as objectors that this it is not something we need to be aware of is doubly insane.
The governing and legislating bodies in the country have proved beyond doubt that they are at best inept, at worst corrupt, as shown by the growing pollution problems across the country. Take a look at the current instances of blue/green algae affecting our waterways, for example.
We as activists have to be across these facts for our communities and the future. This is an environmental and ultimately therefore a public health issue.
