Sent 13.10.23 – Response Awaited

Dear Planners,

We hope this email finds you well. We are writing to express some concerns about the material, comments, and objections that have been submitted to the planning portal about the development along the Quarterlands Road – LA05/2022/0033/F. It has come to our attention that there appears to be a delay in uploading these important documents for public scrutiny and review by the planning committee.

You should also be aware that we have concerns that so many of the comments and objections raised by community members are arbitrarily categorised as ‘not available’ on the planning portal, alongside our concerns about the committee meetings themselves.

The transparency and accessibility of information in the planning process are crucial to maintaining public trust and ensuring that all relevant parties have the opportunity to participate in the decision-making process. We believe that the following items should be addressed to help rectify these issues promptly:

  1. Timely Upload of Documents: We kindly request that all submitted materials, comments, and objections be uploaded to the Planning Portal without unnecessary delay. It is essential that the public and the planning committee have access to these documents to make informed decisions.
  2. Recategorisation: Documents submitted in good faith by many members of the community should be examined again and be correctly categorised as ‘object’ ‘support’ or ‘neutral’ not discarded as ‘not available’ which clearly skews the weight of objections.
  3. Clear Communication: It is vital that both the submitters and the general public are kept informed about the status of their submissions. Providing a clear timeline for when documents will be uploaded, and notifications when this occurs, will greatly improve the transparency of the process. In this light we also have a query about the planning meeting held on the 9th of October. If extra meetings are added alongside the scheduled ‘first Monday in the month at 10am’ could we ask how the public find out about them?
  4. Technical Support: If there are technical issues or challenges that have caused this delay, please let us know. We understand that unforeseen problems can occur, but we would appreciate updates on how these are being addressed.
  5. Ensuring Fair Review: We want to ensure that all objections and comments are given due consideration by the planning committee. To facilitate this, we request that the planning committee takes into account the concerns raised by the public and those who have submitted comments and objections.

We believe that addressing these concerns will not only improve the overall transparency and fairness of the planning process but also demonstrate a commitment to open and inclusive governance. We look forward to your response and the resolution of this issue.

If you require any further information or if there is anything we can do to assist in these matters, please do not hesitate to contact us. We value the open dialogue and collaboration between the public and the planning authorities to achieve the best outcomes for our community.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, and we look forward to a swift resolution.

Sincerely,
